  DARRELL Evans
Despite being dangerously spiritual in a radically cynical world, musician/songwriter Darrell Evans' honest lyrics and raw vocals are appealing to non-Christians and believers alike. His music is touching something central in both - drawing them past "religion" and into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Evans, who has been a believer since age 14, says he is learning the importance of "being a follower of Jesus everyday" as opposed to being "just an American culture Christian."

"It's much easier to come to Christ than to actually follow him," says Evans. "It's the following that is hard. As 'followers,' we are daily called to lay down our lives and follow His plan in obedience. That is in direct opposition to all that our flesh wants to do."

Evans, who recently stepped away from his non-stop touring and recording for over a year, says that he took the time off in order to "yield to a work of God" in his life... "a work at a much deeper level. God was preparing to heal, challenge and change me."

"I'm learning to be accountable to Him and to those around me," he says with the same honesty and intimacy that pours through his lyrics. "When you're out there touring, you're a lone ranger so to speak. You keep pouring out to others, but you can get caught in the trap of not letting God and others pour into you."

Indeed, Evans has been "pouring" his time and energy into ministry for a long time - since the age of 16, to be exact. At that time, he was boldly witnessing to fellow students at his school and leading many of them to Christ. It was during his late teens that he also began to lead worship. Later, he would serve as youth pastor and worship leader for churches in California, Washington and Oklahoma.

It was while serving as a worship leader in Oklahoma that Evans began a relationship with praise and worship recording company Integrity Music. Evans recorded Let The River Flow for the company’s Hosanna! Music label and You Are I AM and the Dove-Award-nominated Freedom for its Vertical Music label. He has also appeared on several of Integrity’s “Songwriter” projects as well as Trading My Sorrows – The Best of Darrell Evans. In addition, many of his songs have been featured on the platinum-selling Songs 4 Worship and WoW Worship albums.
